Supporting Students' Motivation: Strategies for Success
This is a book about teachers' classroom motivating styles. Motivating style is the interpersonal tone and face-to-face behavior the teacher relies on when trying to motivate students to engage in classroom activities and procedures. The over-arching goal of the book is to help teachers work through the professional developmental process to learn how to provide instruction in ways that students will find to be motivationally-enriching, satisfying, and engagement-generating.

Teaching motivation and emotion.
We present information regarding the teaching of Motivation and Emotion in a Peruvian context and we show how the evolution of teaching this topic is linked to research findings presented in the international literature and more recently by local academics. One of the most important aspects of our teaching is its connection to Peruvian reality that provides orientation for our research topics and also for our understanding as a field for applying our findings. We hope that our approach to teaching Motivation and Emotion will be useful for other teachers and researchers, and we want to highlight the great importance of collaboration, both nationally and internationally, to increase scientific knowledge in the international arena. Finally, we remind readers that this chapter focuses primarily on our own experiences, and we recognize that our experiences may not always be germane to related courses at other institutions. This chapter is informative because a) we show an experience of teaching Motivation and Emotion outside the United States or Europe, b) we present a synthesis of the main findings from local research on topics that are expanding over time due to international networking and collaboration, and c) it will be useful for exchanging information with international scholars/researchers interested in collaborating with us. Before we begin the rest of the chapter though, we offer several annotated references on some core, popular motivation textbooks. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2017 APA, all rights reserved)
