Study of the paddling technique of conventional and disabled athletes in polynesian canoe type V1 in Perú
Resumen: Because the adaptation of the polynesian canoeing (Para Va’a) was included in the Olympic program there is a need to encourage the practice of this sport in an accessible way and improve the paddling technique for competitions. The aim of this study is to determine and compare three angles of execution of the Va’a and Para Va’a technique of the athletes in Peru in a speed test in the format proposed by the ICF. It was observed that Va’a and Para Va’a athletes perform a trunk flexion like that proposed by the Hawaiian technique. The faster Va’a athletes showed elbow and shoulder flexion as the techniques described by the literature, while Para Va’a athletes applied an inadequate technique in elbow flexion at the recovery stage.
