Graphical User Interface to Automate the Acquisition of sEMG Signals in Users with Transradial Amputation

Current research in prosthetic devices emphasizes individual autonomy, primarily through utilizing superficial Electromyography (sEMG) signals. EMG data from amputees is limited and often comes with constraints. To tackle this challenge, a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is proposed to automate capturing and labeling movements, employing clear graphical prompts to inform users about which movement to perform and when. The latency between the visual cue and the user’s movement intention was measured in 10 participating volunteers. The obtained times demonstrated that, with continuous interaction, there are promising results of reduced latency lower than 250 ms for automatic labeling of sEMG signals.
