Participation at EMBC 2019

Drs. Sandra Perez and Roberto Lavarello attended the 2019 IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Conference. Dr. Lavarello participated from the Administrative Committee of EMBS as Latin American representative. He also participated in one of the Lunch with Leaders sessions, discussing with student attendees the global perspectives of biomedical engineering. Dr. Perez presented the work “Azopolymer based nanoparticles for phototriggered drug delivery”, in which the synthesis of photosensitive-polymeric nanoparticles as a potential system for localized drug delivery was presented. Results indicate that the obtained photoresponsive nanoparticles have the size and photoisomerization necessary to perform the specific release of drugs.
