5th. World Congress on Social Simulation (WCSS 2014)

The 5th. World Congress on Social Simulation (WCSS 2014) will be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on November 4-7 2014. It is organized by the Universide de São Paulo (USP), more particularly by research groups from various research units related to Computer Engineering (Escola Politécnica), Computer Science (Instituto de Matemática e Estatística), Social and Political Sciences (Faculdade of Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas) and Complexity Science (Escola de Artes, Ciências e Humanidades). Besides USP, researchers from Centro Universitário da FEI, Centro de Estudos da Metrópole and Universidade Federal de Rio Grande are also involved in the organization of the Congress.

The event aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from diverse fields with an interest in social simulations, either in theoretical, experimental, practical or technical context, and to present the results of recent research in the area. Focusing on a better understanding of complex social problems, and gathering scholars from various fields such as computing, social sciences, economics, social psychology, among others, the topics discussed at the event include issues related to the act of modeling a variety of research scenarios related to social simulations, in particular emerging phenomena.

The main objective of this 5th. edition of WCSS, which occurs in Brazil and South America for the first time, is integrating researchers and students of all levels in the area and promote the activities of the various research groups in Brazil, enabling the exchange of knowledge and experiences.Thus, the event consists of a combination of lectures, delivered by experienced researchers, and presentations of Full Papers and Extended Abstracts as posters.
