The laboratory conducts research works on optical transmission technologies and erbium-doped optical lasers. It has equipment for characterization of light sources and optical components, as well as fault detection in laying of optical fiber. It has an optical spectrum analyzer Agilent with a range of 600nm to 1700nm, which allows analyzing signals in the three optical fiber windows and signals DWDM. Likewise, it is equipped with an optical reflectometer for the second and third window, 1310/1550nm. Students do experiments and study the light behavior and the main components in an optical fiber link, also they are trained in optical fiber transmission techniques.
